LG is the world number one for air conditioner sales with a global market share of 18.6 per cent; its stake in the UAE market is more than 20 per cent. In 2003, LG sold US$275 million worth of AC units in Middle East & Africa market and has set a target of US$350 million for 2004, an increase of more than 27%. Globally, LG produced 8.9 million units in 2003 and aims to make a world total of more than 12 million come 2005. Quality training has played its part in LG's success in the regional market. The company's Air-Conditioning Academy in Dubai has trained more than 1,000 specialists to date, and similar academies for installers and contractors are run in Saudi Arabia.
