Rugg Lumber Company

Since 1842, Rugg has been the "supplier of choice" for quality lumber, building materials, millwork, paint, tools, kitchens and hardware among area industry professionals and homeowners alike. It all started when toolmaker Amos Rugg began making "Wood Hay Rakes" in the small town of Montague, Massachusetts. It was there that his son, Francis A. Rugg learned the business. After the first large factory was bought, manufacturing increased but the building was destroyed by fire in 1889. It was immediately rebuilt in Greenfield where it remains operational to this day. Expansion into the field of lumber was a logical choice for a wood products manufacturer, so a local sawmill was purchased and coverted into a lumber and building materials ( www.rugglumber.com )
