Career Academy was founded in 1985 by Jennifer and Don Deitz as The Travel Academy after they had been approached by Alaskan employers in need of professional skilled employees prepared to work in Alaska's growing tourism and aviation industries. Recognizing the need for a full-service, local educational institution capable of meeting the needs of these employers, the academy began offering career skills programs in the areas of travel and tourism, and aviation.
