The Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department (OGVFD),established in 1972, organized by members of the community, was the first volunteer fire department established in Whitley County, KY. The department serves 7000 people covering a 90 square mile area with a current ISO rating of class nine. Serving the second largest population in Whitley County, OGVFD with 40 dedicated firefighters responds to a combination of structure, forest and vehicle fires, auto extrication and assisting in rescue operations and hazardous materials logging 100 to 125 various incidents per year.
